Forestry forum scheduled for Jan. 16 in West Monroe

News Release Distributed 12/17/14

BATON ROUGE, La. – The annual forestry forum held in conjunction with the AgExpo at the West Monroe Convention Center is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on Jan. 16.

LSU AgCenter forestry specialist Michael Blazier said the forum is open to forest landowners, professionals in the forest industry and the general public.

“This year’s program will provide landowners with the latest information about management of the emerald ash borer, land use business practices and other forest-related topics,” Blazier said. “We will also have talks on regeneration silviculture and modeling growth of mixed pine-hardwood forests.”

Another topic on the agenda is maximizing the effectiveness of forestry herbicides, Blazier said.

In addition to the valuable information that will be presented, Blazier said, attendance also will provide three hours of Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credits.

Blazier said registration for the forestry forum is $10 and is due by Jan. 10.

Make checks payable to NELAMG (with Forestry Forum on memo line), and mail to Forestry Forum, 704 Cypress St., West Monroe, LA 71291.

For more information, contact Michael Blazier at 318-927-2578 or mblazier@agcenter.lsu.edu.
