CROWLEY, La. – Louisiana rice farmers will get a chance to hear the latest recommendations by LSU AgCenter experts at a series of meetings in January and February.
Information will include planting preparation, controlling diseases, weeds and insects, new rice varieties, fertility and updates on the rice market outlook.
Sessions will be held in Mansura, Welsh, Abbeville, Crowley, Ville Platte and Delhi.
The first meeting will be on Jan. 5 at the Avoyelles Parish Extension Office, 8592 Louisiana Highway 1, Mansura, starting at 8:15 a.m.
A session on Jan. 6 will be at the Welsh Community Center, 201 S. Elm St., Welsh, with registration at 8 a.m.
The meeting for Evangeline and St. Landry parishes will be on Jan. 7 in Ville Platte at the North Side Civic Center, 704 North Soileau St., starting with 7:30 a.m. registration Pesticide recertification will be available.
The Acadia Parish meeting will be held Jan. 8 in Crowley at the Acadia Parish LSU AgCenter Extension Office, 157 Cherokee Drive, with registration starting at 8 a.m. Pesticide recertification will be available.
The Vermilion Parish meeting will be held Jan. 9 in Abbeville at the LSU AgCenter Extension Office, 1105 W. Port St., starting at 8:30 a.m.
The Northeast Louisiana Crops Forum will be held Feb. 3 at the Delhi Civic Center, 232 Denver St., from 9 a.m. until noon.
