HAMMOND, La. – The LSU AgCenter will host a stroll through the gardens at the Hammond Research Station Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. until noon.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Regina Bracy, resident coordinator of the station, said visitors will see more than 500 blooming plants in the garden.

“This is a great opportunity to see what’s new in the plant world, all in one location,” Bracy said. “We also are proud to be able to the show off the largest herbaceous ornamental plant trial in Louisiana.”

Visitors also are invited to tour the Margie Jenkins Azalea Garden at the station.

“This is a woodland garden loaded with native trees, shrubs and, of course, azaleas,” Bracy said. “Located in this garden are a complete collection of Encore azaleas, crimson azaleas and many lesser-known varieties.”

The Hammond Research Station is located at 21549 Old Covington Highway (Louisiana Highway 1067) east of Hammond. Driving directions may be found on the LSU AgCenter Web site.

Additional information is available by calling 985-543-4125 or visiting the Web site at www.lsuagcenter.com/Hammond.
