BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana gardeners and others have a chance to “Get It Growing” next year with the publication of the 2016 calendar from the LSU AgCenter.
The AgCenter continues to encourage Louisiana gardeners and others to indulge in the popular leisure-time activity, gardening, with its 2016 Get It Growing Lawn & Garden Calendar.
Like previous editions, the calendar provides gardening enthusiasts with opportunities to learn more about their craft and to enjoy beautiful garden photos.
“The 2016 calendar is a showcase for one of the LSU AgCenter’s most popular information areas,” said Elma Sue McCallum, of LSU AgCenter Communications, who serves as the calendar’s coordinator.
“AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill, known across the region for his gardening expertise, provides monthly tips that accompany beautiful photos of flowers, plants and gardens. It is a must-have for expert or novice Louisiana gardeners. With the holidays approaching, it also makes a nice gift.”
The 2016 calendar also features a Louisiana zone map, a special section on selecting and planting trees, an illustrated how-to on forcing amaryllis, gardening terms and information on Louisiana Super Plants. McCallum said the calendar is a great resource for anyone who enjoys gardening.
The 9-inch by 13.25-inch, full-color, 32-page calendar sells for $11.95. It is available for online orders at www.LSUAgCenter.com/OnlineStore, or phone orders can be placed by calling 225-578-4646. Sample photos and more information also are available on the website.
The calendar, which is part of the LSU AgCenter’s popular Get It Growing educational campaign on home lawns and gardens, also is expected to be available through a variety of bookstores, garden centers and gift shops across the state this fall.
Proceeds from calendar sales will support horticultural research and educational efforts of the LSU AgCenter, as well as potential scholarships for horticulture students.
