Two July events celebrate local foods in Alexandria, New Orleans

July brings celebrations of local foods to Alexandria and New Orleans.

In Alexandria, the “Foodapalooza: Farm to School Edition” will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 14 in the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center at 1202 3rd St.

The event is sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and the Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance (CLEDA) and is for anyone interested in the local foods movement, including the latest efforts to get local foods into central Louisiana schools. A second event in New Orleans on July 16 is entitled “Edible Schoolyard New Orleans” and is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Langston Hughes Elementary School at 3519 Trafalger Street by the Fairgrounds. The event is sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Farm to School Alliance.
