Stored rice insect pest management workshop Feb. 25 in Crowley

CROWLEY, La. – The LSU AgCenter will hold a workshop on stored rice insect pest management on Feb. 25 at the Acadia Parish Extension Office.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Topics will include challenges of stored rice pests, integrated pest management, monitoring insect pests, structural treatments, residual insecticides, aeration, and the economics of pest control.

Presenters will be from the LSU AgCenter, Arkansas State University, Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The workshop is being organized by the research team of the Post-Harvest Grain Management Project and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture grants program.

The LSU AgCenter Acadia Parish Extension Office is at 157 Cherokee Drive, Crowley, 70526.
