Webster named LSU AgCenter assistant regional director

News Release Distributed 10/25/13

BATON ROUGE, La. – Eric Webster, an F. Avalon Daggett Professor in the LSU AgCenter School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences, has been named to the position of assistant regional director in the AgCenter’s Southwest Region.

In this position, Webster will help provide administrative oversight for the Southwest Region as well as for the AgCenter plant sciences program, said Steve Linscombe, Southwest Region director. This will include assistance in parish programming, Rice Research Station and Iberia Research Station operations, and regional planning initiatives.

In addition, Webster will provide support for statewide AgCenter plant sciences research.

This new position will not take all Webster’s time, and he will continue his work in integrated weed management, crop/weed competition, weed biology, herbicide persistence and pest complexes in rice.

Webster has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in weed science from Auburn University and a doctorate from Mississippi State University.
