Internet access topic for March 6 summit in West Monroe

WEST MONROE, La – The LSU AgCenter will host a Connect My Louisiana Summit on March 6 to explain options for access to high-speed Internet connections in rural areas.

The meeting at the West Monroe Convention Center will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will feature success stories and speakers that showcase effective uses of technology, said Valerie Vincent, a Connect My Louisiana coordinator for the LSU AgCenter.

Speakers will include John Jones, vice president of public policy and federal legislative affairs for CenturyLink; David Moore, Louisiana Division of Administration; Paul Vingiello, Nexus Systems, Inc. and Steve Blakowski, Calix.

Breakout session speakers from the LSU AgCenter include David Woerner, assistant director of information technology; Tanya Ruffin, information technology coordinator; Debra Cross-Young, extension agent and Vincent.

The session topics include building an online presence, using social media for business and personal life and mobile connectivity.

There is no charge for the summit, but prior registration is required. Lunch will be provided to all registered participants.
