Beef, forage field day set for Sept. 19 in Mangham

MANGHAM, La. – A beef and forage field day will be held at Goldmine Plantation in Mangham from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Thurs., Sept. 19.

Jim McCann, LSU AgCenter county agent in Caldwell Parish, said some of the topics to be covered include cattle handling, rations and winter supplements, pasture and hay equipment, healthcare into the winter, Spectra GPS technology and winter forages.

Goldmine Plantation is located at 188 Cummins Road in Mangham.

Directions from Winnsboro: Take Highway 618 (Lone Cedar Rd) 6 miles and veer right (north) on Highway 135, then 1.6 miles to Goldmine Plantation.

In Mangham: From Highway 15/ U.S. 425 take Highway 132 west 5.7 miles, turn left (south) on Highway 135 then 8.5 miles to Goldmine.

From Monroe: Take Highway 15 east to Alto, turn right (south) at Alto onto Highway 135. Then 11.2 miles to Goldmine.

Lunch will be served at noon.
