News Release Distributed 08/26/13

OPELOUSAS, La. – The Acadiana Beef Cattle Producers field day has been set for Oct. 3 at Dominique’s Stockyard.

“Chances are good that everyone can learn something at this event, regardless of whether they are an experienced cattle owner or someone just getting into the business,” said Vince Deshotel, LSU AgCenter county agent in St. Landry Parish.

Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by presentations on using carcass ultrasound technology for the beef herd, bull fertility testing, trichomoniasis, new uses of artificial insemination, successful ryegrass planting, pasture weed identification and control, and Dominique’s marketing and services.

Supper will be served.

The event is being sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association and the Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council.

Dominique’s is located at 2800 West Landry St., Opelousas.
