LSU AgCenter offers free plant health clinic at Lowe’s in Baton Rouge

News Release Distributed 10/15/12

BATON ROUGE, La. – If you have questions about sick plants or garden pests and can’t find the answer, then ask the LSU AgCenter “plant doctor” for a free diagnosis at the Lowe’s Garden Center at Siegen Marketplace in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Nick Singh, LSU AgCenter plant pathologist with the Plant Diagnostic Center, also known as the plant doctor, will answer questions and offer free plant diagnostics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“I have a plant pathology background, an entomology background, as well as soil science and weed science,” Singh said. “So if a plant comes in, I work like a human doctor to try to find what’s wrong with it.”

You can take advantage of this free clinic or visit the plant diagnostic center website to learn more about the services, which include plant disease diagnosis, insect and mite diagnosis and identification on plants, nematode diagnosis and identification, and weed identification.

You can bring photos of sick plants and lawns, weeds or garden pests, Singh said.

Additional information on the LSU AgCenter Plant Diagnostic Center can be found online at www.LSUAgCenter.com/plantdiagnostics.
