20 4-H achievement winners honored at luncheon

BATON ROUGE, La. – Twenty winners of this year’s Louisiana 4-H Educational Awards Trip were honored at an awards luncheon at The Club at Union Square, formerly the LSU Faculty Club, on Nov. 20.

The Award of Excellence winners were seventh and eighth graders from around the state, who won based on their record book submissions.

This year’s winners were Madeline Babin and Melanie Babin from Terrebonne Parish; Kailey Bailey from Beauregard Parish; Bailey Duet and Abby Dupierre, Lafourche Parish; Leah Dupuy, Avoyelles Parish; Victoria Frederick, Adam Gaspard and Bret Lee, Vermilion Parish; Hailey Hayes and Lindsey Mouton, St. Martin Parish; Kathryn Irvin and Bailey Pierce, Caddo Parish; Joshua Lasseigne, Acadia Parish; Maddie Saucedo and Kalee Wich, Bossier Parish; Matthew Seguin, Livingston Parish; Lexie Sistrunk, West Carroll Parish; Emma Theall, St. Charles Parish; and Stephanie Wyble, St. Landry Parish.

This year’s adult leader award winner was Nan Arthur of Sabine Parish.

As part of the three-day educational trip to south Louisiana, the 4-H’ers toured the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans Arena, Café Hope and the World War II Museum in New Orleans. In Baton Rouge, they toured the Rural Life Museum, Tiger Stadium and LSU Alex Box Stadium.

Sponsors for the educational trip included the LSU Rural Life Museum, DEMCO, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans Arena, Entergy of New Orleans, the LSU Athletic Department, the Louisiana 4-H Foundation and the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H Youth Development Department.
