BATON ROUGE, La. – Members of 4-H clubs from across Louisiana were named state contest winners on June 21 at the closing session of the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H University.

Winners received ribbons, savings bonds, cash awards and trips to events such as 4-H Congress, which is held in Atlanta, Ga.

More than 1,400 students participated in 4-H University, which was held over three days on the LSU campus from June 19-21. The 4-H’ers participated in 43 contests, 12 Clover College educational sessions and other educational programs.

Contests represented areas such as fashion revue, food science, public speaking and agricultural product demonstrations.

Clover College included sessions on such topics as using credit wisely, bioengineering, touring the LSU AgCenter dairy farm and myth versus reality.

“Once again, we have had a successful week at 4-H U,” said Mark Tassin, state leader for the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H youth development program. “We try to adapt the program to meet the needs and wants of our 4-H members. I continue to be impressed by everyone’s enthusiasm at this event.”

In addition to contests and educational activities, 4-H’ers elected state officers and members of the state 4-H executive committee along with delegates to the National 4-H Conference held in Washington, D.C.

4-H state officers elected for the 2012-13 school year are Hailey Johnson, Acadia Parish, president; Mary Johns, St. Charles Parish, vice president; Madison Bonsall, Cameron Parish, secretary; Peyton Arthur, Vernon Parish, historian/reporter; Brittany Domingue, Acadia Parish, parliamentarian.

Other members elected to the 4-H Executive Committee are Henry Andrews, Webster Parish; Xavier Bell, Concordia Parish; Emily Boswell, Allen Parish; Kaylie Boswell, Allen Parish; Bobbie Rae Butler, Caldwell Parish; Johnathan Calhoun, Desoto Parish; Brandon Dale, Lafayette Parish; Rudi Darouse, Tangipahoa Parish; Micah Denesse, Plaquemines Parish; Austin Gaspard, Vermilion Parish; Jamie Granier, Lafourche Parish; Mckenna Jenkins, Tangipahoa Parish; Courteney Kemp, Caddo Parish; Robert Lancon, Iberia Parish; Wade Morrison, Vernon Parish; Rebecca Pearce, Pointe Coupee Parish; Bethany Rhodes, Union Parish; Aubrey Simmons, Lincoln Parish; Rebekah Taylor, St. James Parish; Krista Weems, Caldwell Parish.

Delegates selected to two-year terms to represent Louisiana 4-H at the 4-H National Conference are Anne Catherine LeBlanc, Vermilion Parish; Allie Doise, Jeff Davis Parish; Levi Keith Brown, Caddo Parish; Florencia Scaglia, St. Mary Parish.

National 4-H Conference delegates who will serve their second year are Hannah Martin, St. Martin Parish; Cassidy Sonnier, Calcasieu Parish; Mary Johns, St. Charles Parish; Shawn Fox, Ascension Parish.

Results from the 4-H University contests include the following winners and runners-up:
