The Louisiana County Agents Association recently honored LSU AgCenter county agents Keith Fontenot and Terrence Marshall with the organization’s Distinguished Service Award.

Fontenot has been the county agent in Evangeline Parish for all of his 32 years, and Marshall, has been a county agent for 35 years, including 33 years in East Baton Rouge Parish and two years in Ascension Parish.

Also honored with the LCAA Achievement Award were Al Orgeron, LSU AgCenter county agent in St. James Parish, and Rob Ferguson, former county agent in Avoyelles Parish.

The association met in Port Allen May 20-23 and toured several agricultural-related facilities. In addition, an auction raised almost $2,000 for the scholarship fund.

Students Nikki Dutile of Lafayette Parish and Morgan Richard of Jefferson Davis Parish were each awarded $500 scholarships.

Incoming president Stuart Gauthier, LSU AgCenter county agent in Vermilion Parish, said next year’s meeting will be in Abbeville.
