‘From Cow to Cone’ dairy education day set for Nov. 2 on LSU campus

News Release Distributed 10/14/11

The LSU AgCenter School of Animal Sciences will hold its “From Cow to Cone” dairy education day at the 4-H Mini Farm Building on Nov. 2.

The program will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and viewing of undergraduate and graduate research posters along with coffee and donuts, according to Gary Hay, school director.

“Following registration, we’ll have comments by representatives from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Louisiana Farm Bureau, LSU AgCenter and the LSU System,” Hay said.

The education day will include tours of the dairy research and teaching farm on the LSU campus and the LSU Creamery.

A jambalaya lunch will be served at the Mini Farm following the tours, Hay said. “There will also be optional tours of the dairy farm and creamery following lunch.”

For more information about the dairy education day, contact Hay at 225-578-3241.
