SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU AgCenter Pecan Research and Extension Station will host a field day June 16, starting at 8 a.m., featuring the latest research-based information about pecan production.

Topics to be addressed by faculty include air-blast sprayer calibration, research-demonstration orchard varieties and fungicide screening tests.

In the rootstock and variety evaluation orchard, Charlie Graham, horticulturist, will report on a fertilizer test.

Insecticide trial results will be addressed by Mike Hall, entomologist, and Randy Sanderlin, research coordinator, will discuss new orchard varieties.

A lunch sponsored by the Louisiana Pecan Growers Association will begin at noon.

The station, which includes 75 acres planted in pecan trees, is about 6 miles south of Shreveport off Hwy. 1 near the port of Shreveport. It is the only university research station solely designated to conduct programs to advance the commercial pecan industry.
