(Radio News 01/03/11) A hard freeze in mid-December killed most of what remained of Louisiana’s sugarcane crop. A significant portion had already been harvested by the time the freeze came, however, and farmers and mills were racing to the get the rest of the crop processed before the sugar in the cane plants began to break down.
