Master Farmer Award Luncheon set for Jan. 13 in Bossier City

The Louisiana Master Farmer Program Recognition and Award Luncheon will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13, at Diamond Jacks in Bossier City from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Louisiana Master Farmer Program is an environmental education program designed to help farmers and ranchers identify and adopt best management practices.

Newly certified Master Farmers to be recognized are Shannon Daboval, Jefferson Davis Parish; Charles Fondren and Jamie Howington, Madison Parish; Gene Foster and Jeff Foster, Lincoln Parish; Algy Irvin and Mary Irvin, Lafourche Parish; Norwyn Johnson, Vernon Parish; and Phillip Sneed Jr., Sabin Parish.

The 2010 Outstanding Louisiana Master Farmer Award also will be announced.

The program will include LSU AgCenter chancellor Bill Richardson, LSU AgCenter vice chancellor Paul Coreil, and Louisiana commissioner of agriculture and forestry Dr. Mike Strain.
