The LSU AgCenter Red River Research Station has scheduled a greenhouse tomato seminar on Feb. 25 at the station in Bossier City.
The public will have an opportunity to learn the latest information about the greenhouse tomato industry, according to H.Y. Hanna, LSU AgCenter researcher at the station.
“Among the topics to be discussed are heating and cooling the greenhouse, varieties for good eating and good yield,” Hanna said.
Information also will be provided about producing good transplants for greenhouse and field production, research tips that produce results, disinfecting root media before planting and producing grafted and non-grafted tomato plants from the same seedling.
The program will include a tour of the station’s greenhouses and a special training session on grafting tomato plants will be held.
There is no registration fee for the event, which will last from 1 to 5 p.m.
The LSU AgCenter’s Red River Research Station is located three miles south of the Jimmie Davis Bridge on U.S. Highway 71 in Bossier City.
