CROWLEY, La. – A stored grain pest management workshop will be held May 10 with experts from five states.
The clinic will be at the Acadia Parish Extension Office, 157 Cherokee Drive, in Crowley from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The session is intended for commercial facilities that store grains, but will also be helpful for rice and other grain farmers.
Presenters include experts from the LSU AgCenter, Arkansas State University, Texas A&M, U.S. Department of Agriculture, University of Arkansas and Oklahoma State University.
Topics include pest monitoring, pest management for stored rice and milling, impact of borer insects on milled rice quality and economics of pest control.
“These are some of the most knowledgeable individuals in their field,” said T. Eugene Reagan, LSU AgCenter entomologist. “More farmers have built grain bins or expanded their storage capacity, so they would benefit from attending this session.”
