Landscape management short course set for June 18-19 in Baton Rouge

News Release Distributed 05/19/10

The third annual short course for landscape management professionals will be June 18-19 at the LSU AgCenter’s Burden Center in Baton Rouge.

The short course, sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and the Baton Rouge Landscape Association, will provide intermediate to upper-level horticulture and landscape instruction on management and installation, according to AgCenter horticulturist Allen Owings.

“We have a special guest speaker, Gary Wade of the University of Georgia, who will be speaking on cost estimating and plant adaptability and landscape planning,” Owings said.

In addition to Wade, presenters will include faculty members from the LSU AgCenter, who will cover weed management, turf management and sustainable landscape practices, he added.

The program will begin with registration at 8 a.m. on June 18 and conclude with a crawfish boil at noon on June 19.

The registration cost of $150 per person includes lunch and dinner on June 18. Registration after June 10 is $175.

Further information and registration forms are available from Owings at aowings@agcenter.lsu.edu or Jeff Kuehny at jkuehny@agcenter.lsu.edu.
