BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter Food Incubator will offer training Feb. 18 and 19 for food industry professionals interested in learning about good manufacturing practices.
The course will focus on requirements set forth in recently finalized Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) rules. Anyone who manufactures, processes, packs or holds food must now receive training in food safety and employee health and hygiene.
Food processors, packers, wholesalers, importers, harvesters and food warehouse employees are encouraged to take the course, said Food Incubator director Gaye Sandoz.
Presentations will cover developing, implementing and maintaining good manufacturing practices that protect products from chemical, microbiological and physical contamination.
Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate.
The course fee is $350 and includes snacks and lunch. The training will be held in Efferson Hall on the LSU campus and will run 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days.
