BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden is postponing Arbor Day activities set for Jan. 16.
“The grounds are just too wet for the event,” said Botanic Gardens resident director Jeff Kuehny. “With the unseasonable rains we’ve had, we’re just unable to prepare the area as we would like.”
“We’re disappointed that we can’t go on as scheduled,” Kuehny said. “We will reschedule Arbor Day at Burden this spring as the weather cooperates. This annual event is important to the continued reforestation of the Burden Woods, providing an educational asset to our community.”
StoryTime for children between the ages of 3 and 8 will still be held in the Orangerie at the Botanic Gardens. Supported in part by the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the book reading program will begin at 9 a.m. with readings and activities starting every 30 minutes with the last reading at 10:30 a.m.
All children participating in the program must be accompanied by an adult.
