Dean Lee field day set for July 9 in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Research and Extension Center in Alexandria will host its annual row crop field day on July 9.

Registration and refreshments will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the State Evacuation Shelter on U.S. Highway 71. Tours will follow beginning at 8:45 a.m.

An indoor program with updates from AgCenter administrators will begin at 11:20 a.m. and conclude with lunch at noon.

Daniel Stephenson, AgCenter weed scientist, said field tour topics will include disease, weed and insect pest management; cotton and corn agronomy research; integration of cover crops; soybean seeding rates; and potential uses of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in agriculture.
