MAMOU, La. – The Evangeline Parish Rice Tour will be held May 23 starting at 8 a.m. The first stop will be at Hebert Farms off Bieber Road. Signs will be posted to indicate the location, approximately 4.7 miles west of La. Highway 13.
At this location, Dustin Harrell, LSU AgCenter agronomist, will discuss his fertilizer research.
The second stop, at the Bieber Farm on Bieber Road one mile west of La. Highway 13, Steve Linscombe, LSU AgCenter rice breeder, will talk about new variety development. Mike Stout, LSU AgCenter entomologist, will talk about insect problems in this year’s rice crop.
Johnny Saichuk, LSU AgCenter rice specialist, will talk about this year’s crop, followed by Eric Webster, who will discuss herbicide applications.
The tour will end with a presentation by Don Groth, LSU AgCenter plant pathologist, who will give details on fungicide applications.
