The LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Research and Extension Center will host a field day on July 18. The event will feature presentations on cotton, corn, cattle, soybeans, and insect and weed management.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with field tours following at 9:30.
LSU AgCenter scientists will present their research during the program, including:
– Cotton breeding, pest management and best management practices
– Corn hybrids and fertility
– Soybean planting date trials and pest management
– Weed control
– Application technology
"The purpose of the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center field day is twofold; it provides LSU AgCenter scientists an avenue to present specific research and extension findings to our stakeholders and it highlights the overall research and extension activities and personnel at Dean Lee,” said Daniel Stephenson, LSU AgCenter weed scientist and field day coordinator.
An indoor presentation in the state evacuation center will take place after the field tour. Participants will hear from AgCenter administrators and learn about beef cattle research and the Master Farmer and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures programs. The field day will conclude with lunch.
The Dean Lee Research and Extension Center is located adjacent to LSU-Alexandria off U.S. Highway 71 south of Alexandria.
