BRAITHWAITE, La. – An ecotourism workshop aimed at exploring potential business opportunities along the Gulf Coast will be held in Plaquemines Parish on March 12.
Sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, Louisiana Sea Grant and Mississippi State University, the event will be held at Stella Plantation, 4881 Louisiana Highway 39, Braithwaite.
Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the workshop will end at 3 p.m.
Individuals who would be interested in attending the workshop include coastal landowners, farmers, charter fishing guides, marina owners and swamp tour operators, said LSU AgCenter agritourism coordinator Dora Ann Hatch.
Topics to be covered in the morning include legal and liability considerations of an ecotourism business, private land management and business plan development. Afternoon sessions will be held in the field with talks about Stella Plantation, coastal bird watching, and native plants and crops for wildlife.
The registration fee is $20 before March 6 or $25 on the day of the workshop.
