LSU AgCenter prepares corn maze

News Release Distributed 08/02/13

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens and Burden Horticulture Society will present its annual corn maze at Burden Sept. 28-29 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in conjunction with the LSU Rural Life Museum’s Harvest Days.

Find your way through the corn maze and when you finish you can climb the straw mountain, said Jeff Kuehny, center director.

“Children and parents alike will enjoy the old-fashioned hayride and the chance to test their skills at the water balloon launch,” Kuehny said.

As in the past, visitors may purchase food and drinks as well as pumpkins for children to paint.

Admission is $5 for the corn maze activities in addition to the Rural Life Museum’s Harvest Days admission. Children age 5 and under enter free.

“Visitors can learn about life in 19th century rural Louisiana and see a Civil War Battle of Baton Rouge re-enactment at the LSU Rural Life Museum’s Harvest Days held at the same time,” Kuehny said.

Admission to LSU Rural Life Museum’s Harvest Days is $9 for persons age 12 years and older and $8 for those 62 years and older and children ages 6-11. Children under 5 enter free.

The corn maze also will be open Saturdays from Oct. 5 through Oct. 19 from 4-7 p.m. with $5 admission. A night maze on Oct. 26 will feature a bonfire, hotdogs, s’mores and live music from 4-9 p.m. with $10 admission.

Burden is located at 4560 Essen Lane just off interstate 10 in Baton Rouge. For further information, contact Kuehny at 225-763-3990.
