RAYNE, La. – Classes for the first phase of the Louisiana Master Farmer Program will be held this fall.
On Oct. 29, a class will be held in the Acadia Parish Extension Office in Crowley from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. On Nov. 15, a class will be at the Vermilion Parish Extension Office in Abbeville from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The second phase of the Master Farmer Program consists of attending a conservation-based field day or workshop. The third phase is development and implementation of a comprehensive conservation plan for a farming operation.
The program was developed by the LSU AgCenter, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Louisiana Cattleman’s Association, and the state Department of Agriculture and Forestry. It is designed for agricultural producers, regardless of commodity, to learn about local and national environmental issues, and how to address environmental issues related to production agriculture.
All classes are open to the public. Participants are not required to pre-register.
