News Release Distributed 03/01/12
The Southwest Louisiana Forestry Association will hold its annual meeting at the Southern Forest Heritage Museum in Longleaf on Sat., March 17, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
The museum is a unique place to host the event because it was once a working sawmill, said Keith Hawkins, LSU AgCenter county agent in Beauregard Parish.
Topics for the meeting will include mineral and pipeline leasing, longleaf pine, economic opportunities for forestlands, how to sell small tracts of timber and how to register your land as a movie site.
The cost is $25 per household, which is composed of a husband, wife and dependent children. The cost includes the annual membership and entitles members to attend other workshops at no charge.
More information is available from Hawkins at 337-463-7006. Regular forestry and wildlife updates can be received by sending a request by email. Also follow Hawkins on Twitter@khawkbikeragent to see the latest AgCenter forestry tweets.
