CROWLEY, La. – The LSU AgCenter will hold a field day June 13 for Acadia Parish farmers.
“The meeting will cover a wide variety of subjects for farmers of rice, crawfish and soybeans,” said Barrett Courville, LSU AgCenter county agent in Acadia Parish. “It’s a good chance to find out what our experts are advising and have questions answered.”
The event begins with registration at 8 a.m. at the LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station South Farm. The program starts at 8:30 a.m. with talks by LSU AgCenter rice specialist Johnny Saichuk and agronomist Dustin Harrell.
A 9:15 a.m. tour of South Farm research will include talks from LSU AgCenter scientists, including Harrell, plant pathologist Don Groth, rice breeder Steve Linscombe, soybean specialist Ron Levy, crawfish researcher Ray McClain and weed scientist Eric Webster.
Also, LSU AgCenter corn and cotton specialist John Kruse will discuss research on sweet sorghum being grown for its potential as an alternative energy source.
