Florida Parishes forestry forum scheduled for March 16

HAMMOND, La. – The 23rd annual Florida Parishes Forestry Forum be held Friday, March 16, at the University Center at Southeastern Louisiana University.

The program will begin with registration at 8:15 a.m., and the last presentation will be at 2:30 p.m. A lunch will be included.

Forest Management Issues and Initiatives in the Florida Parishes is the theme of the program. This year’s forum, which is sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, is designed to provide information on some of the issues and initiatives that could benefit or affect local forest landowners, according to Brian Chandler, LSU AgCenter extension forester.

Topics to be covered at the forum include: longleaf pine initiative in Louisiana, state and federal forestry issues, cogongrass and other invasive plants, marketing small timber tracts, feral hogs and Tuscaloosa Marine Shale activity.
