A workshop on grant opportunities in value-added agriculture and renewable energy for entrepreneurs in northeast Louisiana is scheduled for Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the LSU AgCenter's Delta Rural Development Center, 10284 Louisiana Highway 17 in Oak Grove.
The program will include speakers who will address how agribusinesses are using broadband technology to develop e-business opportunities. Other presentations will include the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s federal solar grant/loan programs and an overview of the Louisiana solar technology programs.
Information on MarketMaker, the LSU AgCenter’s free online tool for Louisiana producers, businesses and consumers, will be presented by James Barnes, director of the LSU AgCenter’s Delta Rural Development Center, and Glenn Dixon, community economic development agent in East Carroll Parish with Southern University.
The event is a collaboration among the LSU AgCenter’s Delta Rural Development Center, the University of Louisiana at Monroe Social Science Research Lab, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Southern University AgCenter and the Northeast Educational Foundation.
